The date of this year's Science Fair is Saturday, April 29, 2017, from 9:00am – 12:00pm in the MPR.
Science Buddies www.sciencebuddies.com is an award-winning site that includes informative content with a novel project selection wizard that can help your child with ideas. These resources will help students select an interesting question, formulate and test a hypothesis and present their data and project in a clear and organized project.
Listed below are all the important dates, milestones and key details leading up to this year’s event.
Thursday, February 23rd: Lawrence Hall of Science Assembly Kick-Off for K-2nd and 3rd-5th grade students.
Friday, February 24th: Science Fair registration opens online (paper version will also be sent home with students) and Science Fair packets will be distributed to each student in class, grades 2nd through 5th.
Wednesday, March 1st: Student/Parent Workshop at 7-8pm in the MPR. The focus will be on selecting an appropriate question, developing a hypothesis, building experiments and recording the results. We encourage you and your child to attend this event, especially if you have never participated before.
Thursday, March 2nd: Starting this week, Science Fair project boards will be available for pick up in Mrs. Estrada (RM 4) between 2:45pm and 3:15pm on Thursdays and Fridays.
Monday, March 20th: Students turn in and review hypothesis with teacher. A Hypothesis Form is included in the Science Fair packets.
Friday, March 24th: Last day to register.
Wednesday, April 12th: Last day to drop participation in the Science Fair.
Thursday & Friday, April 13th and 14th: Students share preliminary results with teacher. A Preliminary Results Form is included in the Science Fair packets.
Thursday & Friday, April 27th and 28th: All completed projects and boards are due at the MPR on Thursday between 2:30-5pm and Friday between 8-9am.
Friday, April 28th: Morning classroom tours in the MPR to see Science Fair projects.
Saturday, April 29th: Students will present their projects to Science Fair judges during the Science Fair held between 9AM and Noon.
